User Policy
This User Policy (Acceptable Use Policy) explains what you may and may not do when using OrbitBook. It applies to Businesses and to Customers alike.
1. Purpose and scope
OrbitBook (the "Service") is an online appointment-booking platform for small businesses in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, operated by VTEC (Venture Tech Engineering Consultancy, Jordan; vtec-jo.com) ("we", "us", "our"). This Policy sets the rules of acceptable use for everyone who uses the Service.
This Policy applies to two categories of users: "Businesses" (tenant owners who hold an account and operate a public booking page) and "Customers" (members of the public who book appointments without an account). By using the Service in either capacity, you agree to this Policy. It should be read together with our Terms of Service and our privacy documents, and it is governed by the laws of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, including the Personal Data Protection Law No. (24) of 2023 ("PDPL"), the Electronic Transactions Law, the Cybercrime Law, and applicable consumer-protection rules.
2. Acceptable use
You may use the Service only for lawful appointment booking and for the legitimate operation of a genuine business. Businesses must provide accurate information about themselves and the services they offer, and must honour bookings made through the Service in good faith. Customers must book appointments honestly, using accurate details, and only for services they genuinely intend to attend.
You are responsible for your own compliance with the laws that apply to you, including any licensing or regulatory requirements that apply to the services a Business offers.
3. Prohibited activities
You must not, when using the Service, do any of the following:
- Use the Service for any illegal activity or in violation of any applicable law or regulation.
- Engage in fraud or deception, including fake bookings, payment fraud, or misrepresenting your identity or intentions.
- Create false or misleading business listings, service descriptions, prices, or availability.
- Harass, threaten, or intimidate any person, or engage in hate speech.
- Impersonate any person, business, or organization, or falsely claim an affiliation with them.
- Send spam or unsolicited messages, or misuse the Service's notification features for marketing that the recipient has not agreed to receive.
- Scrape the Service, use bots or other automated means to abuse it, probe or test its vulnerabilities, or attempt to breach its security or authentication measures.
- Interfere with, disrupt, or overload the Service, its servers, or its networks.
- Infringe the intellectual-property rights or privacy rights of others, including uploading content you do not have the right to use or submitting another person's personal data without a lawful basis.
4. Prohibited content
You must not submit, publish, or display through the Service (including in business names, service names, addresses, customer names, or any other text field) content that falls into any of the following categories:
- Profanity or obscenity.
- Hateful or discriminatory slurs targeting people by race, religion, ethnicity, gender, or sexuality.
- Sexual content or the offering of adult services.
- Violent extremism or terrorist content, or content supporting or promoting either.
- Content relating to illegal drugs or weapons, including offering them for sale.
- Content that incites violence or civil unrest, or that insults religions or the Hashemite monarchy or the Jordanian state. Such content is unlawful in Jordan and may expose you to criminal liability under Jordanian law, including the Cybercrime Law.
5. Content moderation
We run an automated banned-words and content filter over user-submitted text, including business names, service names, addresses, and customer names, screening for the categories listed in Section 4. We may also manually review content and remove, edit, or block any content that we reasonably believe violates this Policy or applicable law, without prior notice.
Automated and manual moderation are not perfect, and we do not guarantee that we will catch every violation. Our filtering does not transfer responsibility to us: Businesses remain fully responsible for the content they submit and publish through the Service.
6. Consequences of violations
If you violate this Policy, we may take any of the following actions, individually or in combination, depending on the severity and frequency of the violation:
- Remove or block the offending content.
- Limit or disable specific features of your account or booking page.
- Suspend or terminate a Business account or booking page, or cancel or block bookings made by a Customer.
- Refer the matter to the competent Jordanian authorities where required or permitted by law.
Where reasonable and lawful, we may warn you and give you an opportunity to correct a violation before taking more serious action, but we are not obliged to do so.
7. Reporting abuse
If you encounter content or behaviour on the Service that you believe violates this Policy, please report it to us at legal@orbitbook.vtec-jo.com. Include a description of the issue and, where possible, a link to the relevant page. We will review reports and take the action we consider appropriate, but we cannot promise a specific outcome or response time in every case.
8. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time, for example to reflect changes in the law, in our Service, or in our moderation practices. The "Last updated" date at the top of this Policy shows when it was last revised. For material changes, we will take reasonable steps to notify Businesses, such as by email or an in-Service notice. Your continued use of the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Policy.
